The 3rd Alexandroni Infantry Brigade is a reserve infantry brigade assigned to the Israel Defense Forces Northern Command.[1]
Several notable IDF commanders have served with the Alexandroni Brigade, including Ariel Sharon (a junior officer in 1948).[2]

[edit] Pre Twilight War
The Alexandroni brigade was formed as an active duty brigade in 1948 and fought in Israel's War of Independence. After the war, the brigade was reformed as a reserve formation. Current reservists in the brigade have predominantly served with the elite 1st Golani Infantry Brigade during their 3-years compulsory military service. They transferred to the Alexandroni Brigade when they finished active duty and joined the reserves.

The Alexandroni brigade was mobilized in 1996 for service with Northern Command.

In early 2001, the brigade is based in the Golan Heights along the Lebanese and Syrian border.
