The Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) (Arabic: المجلس الأعلى الإسلامي العراقي) is an Iraqi political party that draws its support from the Shi'a Muslim community.
The SIIC was founded in 1982 during the Iran–Iraq War. The Iranian Islamic revolutionary government arranged for the formation of the SIIC, which was based in exile in Tehran. The primary goal of the group was the overthrow of the Ba'ath regime and the establishment of an Islamic government in Iraq. Declared illegal by the Ba'athists, the SIIC was only able to operate in the country after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
The Badr Organization (Arabic: منظمة بدر) is the armed wing of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC).
Originally the Badr Brigade, it grew to a division and then a corps. The Badr Brigade was formed by the Iranian government to fight Saddam Hussein's Baathist regime in Iraq. Before the fall is Saddam Hussein, it was based in Iran for two decades. Its members were drawn from pro-Iranian Iraqi Shia political and religious dissidents. The Badr forces fought alongside Iran in the Iran–Iraq War (1980-1988).
The Badr Corps consists of infantry, armor, artillery, anti-aircraft and commando units.
